Pacific Maritime Photos

I visited the Pacific Maritime zone a number of times as a child on family vacations to Long Beach (Vancouver Island) and Hornby Island, but memories are hazy. Since then I have visited three times, once sailing in the Vancouver-Victoria area and twice to Haida Gwaii (then called Queen Charlotte Islands). Most will be somewhat familiar with the west coast even if you haven't been there. The weather is moody, but the mountainous coasts and temperate rainforests are spectacular. The backcountry in this region can be fairly accessible by road or ferry. Hiking is common, and areas protected from direct exposure to the pacific also provide opportunities for boat exploration that is not excessively challenging.
