Southeastern Photos
I have lived in eastern Ontario for most of my adult life. Though historically the southeastern region was one of mixed forests, it is now heavily populated and largely modified by agriculture and urban areas. However, it can still put on spectacular displays of fall colours in good years and has some unique stopover locations for migrating birds like Point Pelee National Park. Like the prairies, there are many small natural pockets scattered through the region as well as a few larger areas like Algonquin Provincial Park. However unlike the prairies, the parks in this region are typically very busy.
Though I make short visits to several of the parks in this region during off season, most of my outdoor activity involves day trips from home to small patches of lesser known 'crown land' (federal, provincial or municipal). These areas are much less crowded and help to "scratch the backcountry itch" on a regular basis!
