Welcome to Backcountry Canuck!

This kickoff post will give you an idea of what is to come and invite your input on topics of interest. The blog will range from snapshots of trips and outings I have done or would like to do, through thoughts and tips on outdoor activities and equipment, to general ramblings about Canadian backcountry.

My primary backcountry tripping experiences have been by canoe so you will see many posts about canoe trips and thoughts about tripping. Posts about shorter outings will generally be from the prairies or eastern Ontario since those are the primary locations where I have lived. The other thread that will likely run through many posts is photography; I have been interested in it since I was a child and more and more use it as an excuse to get out on local outings as well as more substantial trips. I have always been more of a photographer than a writer, so you can expect fairly short and relatively well illustrated blogs!
